Interested in Volunteering?

Here at Aksarben IFT, our leadership board is made up of volunteers dedicated to advancing the science of food in an evolving world.  Board positions are elected, and candidacy is open to any interested members.

What do volunteer board members do?

The Aksarben Section of IFT works locally and nationally to promote a world where science and innovation are universally accepted as essential to a safe, nutritious, and sustainable food supply for everyone.

Our leadership board works to bring value to the members, including:

  • Scheduling events and program
  • Connecting members with valuable resources
  • Facilitating networking
  • And more!

What is the time commitment?

We have a board meeting once a month, planning events and meetings for the greater Aksarben Section of IFT.  Additional work completed by volunteer board members is often done independently, outside of meetings, on the volunteer’s own time. Depending on the position, this may be around 1-2 hours of your time per month.

How is the board structured?

Each position on the board is a voting member. We vote on by-laws and other matters pertinent to the Aksarben Section. Terms for executive committee members begins Sep 1 – Aug 31 of the following calendar year.

What board positions are available?

    • President (3-year term: President Elect, President, Past-President)
    • Secretary (1-year term)
    • Treasurer (3-year term)
    • Student Representative (UNL Club President)
    • Members-At-Large (3-year term)
